Office Hours, Tuesday All Day

It was her third week of being a teacher here, and Kerrigan was still not really used to having this office.

That's probably why she was leaning back in her chair and staring at the empty walls today.

Really.

The corner of her mouth pulled up just a little bit. "Not this," Kerrigan said.

River chuckled, stretched out her arms and spun around. "Fandom is drawing you in?"

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
She lifted her head up, eyes looking to meet River's. Whatever smile Kerrigan had on her face, it looked... tired. A place is a place. Fandom's no different.

River didn't quite agree, but said nothing. Something's bothering you.

Running class is hard work, Kerrigan replied. It was a truth and a diversion all at the same time.

Good or bad? River took a seat in a chair.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
There was something a little like Mike about this girl. All the good questions. Neither, she replied, Just reminding me of something.

River began spinning the chair around, staring up into the ceiling. Want to talk about it?

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
Kerrigan tracked her movements - it was a reflex, and it was making her a little dizzy. Did they ever make you kill anyone, River?

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
The chair suddenly stopped, River's back to Kerrigan. Why?

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
Where I come from-- the last test is... Kerrigan closed her eyes, ...There's a man. He puts a gun to your head - someone else's head. Two options. She opened her eyes again. Did they ever make you kill anyone? she repeated.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
There was a pause. Yes. Not like that. Not kill or be killed. She slowly spun the chair around. Did it anyway. Improvised weapon

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
Because I could. Peaceful. Precise. They wanted me too, of course. She frowned, her expression turning uneasy.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Her fingers searched for something to fiddle with-- and found a pen. Kerrigan tapped it gently against the desk. Were they good reasons?

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
No. The answer came quickly. You think that makes me bad? River kept her face expressionless, but her eyes deceived her.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I kill because I'm a good soldier, came the vague and faraway reply, Now-- also because I have hope, but... still because I am a good. Soldier.

Kerrigan cocked her head at River, although in a way, she didn't really seem there. Does that make me bad?

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Some might say it depends on the cause. River looked up at the ceiling. I'm more of a weapon than a soldier. Still not sure who's doing the aiming.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
We're all weapons. People like us. She slammed the pen quietly down on the desk. My universe just seems to excell at making us bigger and bigger guns...

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
River suddenly burst out laughing, spinning the chair around again. Trying to make someone safer?

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Her mouth quirked again. Something like that.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm well camouflaged. Innocent girl. Crazy was a manufacturing error. She laughed again, still spinning the chair. You never tell anyone?

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Not here. Tactical mistake. Kerrigan picked the pen back up between two fingers, tapping it against the table on one side, then the other and back again. Back home, there's not much of a point. Everybody's terrified when they see.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Makes me lonely. Some people understand here. Makes a difference though. River stopped, then started spinning in the opposite direction.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-09-18 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess it does. "We're storming Antiga Prime tomorrow," Kerrigan said, twisting the screen of her computer to show River a representation of the planet.
