Office Hours, Tuesday

Kerrigan had given up on her syllabus.

Well, okay, she hadn't given up, because she was a dogged sort of person, but it had finally found its way to a pile. It was just being worked at from a distance.

She made herself some noodles and spent a goodly period of time staring at it.

[ open hours! ]

Mid-morning, River walked into the room, giving Kerrigan a small smile before heading for the coffee. Want a cup?

"Don't I always?" Kerrigan shot a slight smile back.

She always did, and it was a routine that River appreciated. She made two cups, placed one in front of Kerrigan and kept the other in her hand, sinking down into the chair opposite.

She leaned back, stirring her noodles before finally picking up her coffee. "Think if I have one more cup after this, I'll launch?" Kerrigan asked, with a smirk.

"Could try to hold you down," River replied, sipping her own coffee. She kept her barriers up around her mind to shield off what had been hurting during that past week, wanting to enjoy this visit. "Ships are preferable."

"I don't know. Nobody's tried it before." She took a sip of her java, letting it warm her hands. "Well, in my world, anyway."

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
"The demand might increase considerably if it became known." She chuckled. "Prices will rocket."

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Like all forms of fuel," Kerrigan snorted. "The puns alone would eat the world."

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Or drink it." River threw back her head and laughed.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
Kerrigan snickered. "That's what I mean," she said, slamming back a gulp of coffee maybe a little bit too fast. She spilled some across the desk as she bent forwards, wiping at her mouth. "...Too many puns."

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Bad puns makes you waste the coffee," River pointed out, then started giggling again, into her cup this time.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly. So no more of that." She groped for something to clean the coffee off her shirt, and found herself with her fingers on her syllabus. No. Not that.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Am good at distracting from that," River said, looking almost smug. They both needed distraction and bad puns were good enough.

[Lunch now, biab]

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
"You put yourself to the task of distracting people, now?"

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Only the select few who deserve it," River replied and reached for the pile that was the syllabus.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
Kerrigan was about to respond when she was in which direction River was going. "...That's still not done yet."

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
River picked up the sheet of paper on top of the pile and began folding it, completely ignoring Kerrigan's comment.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
"...Fine," Kerrigan said, sagging back in her chair, "Be my guest. It's not worth anything, anyway."

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
River looked up and gave her a pointed look. "All in your head. You don't need paper." The sheet of paper had transformed into an airplane and she hurled it into the air, then watched it circle with a smile on her face. "Just let your thoughts fly with it."

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
After an instant or two, Kerrigan reached up, plucking the airplane neatly out of the air. "But you can't give students thoughts as a hand-out," she said, dryly.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"I could interpret," River offered, already folding the next page.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"So could I," she replied. Then glanced up at River, thoughtfully.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
She offered Kerrigan the second paper airplane. "I'm your TA. I can help."

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Kerrigan took the airplane and regarded it, dryly, for a minute. Then sent it flying into the room, herself. "I think this thing's a lost cause," she confided.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2008-02-05 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
River just looked at Kerrigan, head tilted, waiting for her to elaborate.
