Office Hours, Tuesday

Finals week was, apparently, supposed to be a nightmare for the students.

Unfortunately, Sarah Kerrigan had never actually had finals before in her life. This meant that, for all intents and purposes, she was living the same nightmare.

She was fiddling with bits of sim and paper exams at the same time, and mentally begged for an interruption.

[ open! ]

River could provide an interruption. She knocked lightly on the door before entering the room.

Hello.

Then she wandered over to where the coffee could be found and started to make herself a cup.

River, Kerrigan smiled in greeting. Maybe a little dorkily so, as she was incredibly pleased with the interruption.

Smiling back, River stirred the instant coffee carefully, then sat down on a chair. Plan to celebrate Christmas?

Depends on whether I'll get any visitors, she smiled again. "Make me some?" Work had made her lazy.

River gave a nod and rose again, making another cup for Kerrigan. Will there be dancing? She placed the cup in front of Kerrigan.

Don't count on it. Kerrigan took the cup gladly, taking a sip before releasing a sigh. "Coffee is good."

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
River gave another nod. "Half a year left," she said.

[going home now!]

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That gave her pause, in the middle of her coffee. "What are you going to do?"

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
She shook her head. "No decision made. Draws closer, and I try to forget." River stared down into her cup of coffee.

[sorry for the delay]

"You could stay on this world," Kerrigan offered. "It seems... nice."

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"My brother." But yes, it was an option, if Simon would stay too.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"He should come, too," Kerrigan replied. "It's safer."

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Safer," River agreed. "Would you stay with us?"

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm a soldier," Kerrigan replied. "I've got obligations."

She sighed. "Sorry, River," she said, apologetically, and sipped her coffee.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Know that." She smiled sadly. She had asked something similar before. "Visits?"

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll try." Kerrigan offered her a smile back. It was probably roughly the same in sentiment.

It seemed doubtful.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Trying was better than nothing. Do you feel compassion towards artificial intelligences? River asked, changing the subject.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Not particularly. Kerrigan cocked her head. They were quiet. Why?

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems to be a normal human response, River replied, showing Kerrigan a hint of taking apart a droid baby together with Adah, and her own lack of feelings for the robot.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just a droid. And Kerrigan knew droids. It doesn't have thoughts or feelings.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Not the point. The projection of human emotions on to objects is a human thing. I can do it as a game. River looked thoughtful.

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, Kerrigan shot her a mild look. We know better.

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
River gave her half a smile and nodded.

[bedtime for me!]
