Finals week was, apparently, supposed to be a nightmare for the students.

Unfortunately, Sarah Kerrigan had never actually had finals before in her life. This meant that, for all intents and purposes, she was living the same nightmare.

She was fiddling with bits of sim and paper exams at the same time, and mentally begged for an interruption.

"You could stay on this world," Kerrigan offered. "It seems... nice."

"My brother." But yes, it was an option, if Simon would stay too.

"He should come, too," Kerrigan replied. "It's safer."

"Safer," River agreed. "Would you stay with us?"

"I'm a soldier," Kerrigan replied. "I've got obligations."

She sighed. "Sorry, River," she said, apologetically, and sipped her coffee.

"Know that." She smiled sadly. She had asked something similar before. "Visits?"

"I'll try." Kerrigan offered her a smile back. It was probably roughly the same in sentiment.

It seemed doubtful.

Trying was better than nothing. Do you feel compassion towards artificial intelligences? River asked, changing the subject.

Not particularly. Kerrigan cocked her head. They were quiet. Why?

It seems to be a normal human response, River replied, showing Kerrigan a hint of taking apart a droid baby together with Adah, and her own lack of feelings for the robot.

It's just a droid. And Kerrigan knew droids. It doesn't have thoughts or feelings.

Not the point. The projection of human emotions on to objects is a human thing. I can do it as a game. River looked thoughtful.

River gave her half a smile and nodded.
