General Duke's tank rolled - no, thundered - across Augustgrad's street, full of pomp and arrogance. Much like the good general himself - especially at the times that Kerrigan had loathed him most. Now, though, she could almost picture a tremor of fear passing through all the nuts and bolts; not that the man would ever acknowledge it.

A few Zerglings. A well-placed battery. That's all Kerrigan needed: the base before her was completely overwhelmed by unexpected and sudden betrayal. The bodies littered the ground as she strode across the battlefield. One step at a time, her heels digging against the solid mud--

Clink.

She leaned down, picked up the communications device, and crushed it firmly within her palm. Six minutes.

The scrap hit the ground with the quiet snap of her wrist. River, she sent, Continue to attack. Their defenses won't last long.

In fact, the Raider defenses were already starting to give. )

They had been waiting long enough. She had been waiting long enough. Now, with Mengsk's troups moving in and setting up shop again back in Augustgrad, her plans were starting to bear fruit. Which meant it was time to engage in a little sweet, sweet action she'd been looking forward to...

She frowned at the viewscreen. It was thought, not complaint, that did it.

"River," she called. It wasn't necessary to differentiate between whether she was thinking or speaking the command. She expected it to be answered.

It was the dawn of a new time; perhaps an uncertain one. Fenix could not be sure of the progression of events from this point on, the UED driven from their world, the Terrans making their nest within their old homes.

The Terran Raynor seemed wary, still. Considering the Terran Mengsk's unholy alliance with the Zerg Queen - considering their own alliance with Kerrigan's broods - he could not blame the Terran for his worries and his bitter mutterings.

The ground dented lightly under the feet of Fenix's large exoskeleton. While he longed to one day feel the air with his own skin again, the metal kind that he'd been granted had settled him. His steps took him past the bounds of their camp, into the few untainted wastes this planet still had to offer.

Even so, he could see the evidence of yesterday's battle piled up across the scenery, moreso the further he went.

[[ for River. ]]

"You have all performed superbly."

Hyperion was hardly neutral ground, but there were enough members of different factions here to make it... safe. Kerrigan's heels clicked against the metal plating, leaving an echo of something tinny and unnatural bouncing around the room.

Especially you, Fenix. )

"My Queen?" Duran asked, respectfully, his arms crossed lightly behind his back in his ready position. "Mengsk has taken his forces down to reestablish a foothold in the city of Augustgrad. He appears to be taking back his reigns."

Kerrigan turned her head. Her mouth curled into a ready smirk, half-meant, half-edged with bitter loathing. "Hope he knows about the Booth tactic," she said, her voice flooding with irony, and paced past the infested Terran into her chambers.
