"My Queen."

Duran's voice ran as a niggling interruption of Kerrigan's own thoughts, disconnected as they had been. River had returned safely and in one piece, but she had known better than to expect that the visit hadn't thrown her for a loop. There was also the matter of Adama, of course-- eventually, she was going to have to find him... but not until after the slaughter had completed. And right now, it seemed to run in some danger of ever being completed.

She blinked once, pulling her hands off of the vertabrae she had been leaning on. No point on focusing on defeat. That wouldn't get her any of the prizes she wanted.

"Pardon me for interrupting," he said, "But the visitors you have been expecting have arrived."

She nodded in turn. "Finally," she said, all thoughts of Lee vanishing on the wind. She had a few other guests to entertain, first. "They certainly took their time."

"Yeah, well, none of us were really in a hurry to get here, Sarah." Jimmy. She shot Duran a look for opening up the comms without informing her, but it didn't matter. Not really. She had a game to play, and another bump in the road to smooth over.

"Still suspicious of my motives, Jimmy?" she asked of the viewscreen.

His eyes narrowed. "Always," he said.

She snorted out loud. "When I contacted you both on Aiur, I told you about the new Overmind and about the UED that seeks to control it. Well, the UED has done it. They've tamed the Overmind and now control most of the Zerg broods in this sector." She fixed her eyes straight on Jimmy's; she could feel him flinch. "That's why I've asked for your help."

"You want us to help you defeat the UED so that you alone will rule the Zerg!" Ah, Fenix. Kerrigan had had enough reports on him from River by now to be able to firmly deny his whinging. There were more important things to deal with.

"Wrong, Fenix," she said, easily, and began to pace towards the screen, one slow, leisurely pace at a time, but her eyes were full of fury. "I want to defeat them because if we don't, they'll clamp down on this sector, and enslave us all!" Even if this plea didn't reach Fenix, it would definitely reach Jimmy. She knew him too well. "You know I'm right, Jim. You've studied the history of Earth, you know what the UED's agenda is."

Fandom may have been kind. Fandom may have been accepting. But Earth itself had never been, always conquering, always looking to enslave. No wonder the old Overmind had found them worthy of infestation. "Taking control of the Zerg is only the beginning for them."

"Maybe..." She could see Jimmy's resolve breaking on the screen, and she knew she'd already won. "I don't know..."

Yes, you do, Jimmy--

"My Queen," and how many times had she heard that from Duran's voice by now? "Again I beg your pardon for this interruption, but we have a very serious problem!"

"Perfect timing," she judged. After all, this would leave Raynor time to feel the knife twisting in his guts. "Gentlemen, we'll need to finish this conversation later." With a hiss, the viewscreen shut off, and she was left alone with her lieutenant.

Barely five minutes into his explanation, she was already barking River's name across the mindlink.

Sarah Kerrigan was really getting tired of these motherfucking rebel Zerg in her motherfucking sector.
