Kerrigan
When she woke up in the morning, Kerrigan had pulled over to the closest source of warmth.

Mostly because she wasn't used to it. Drowsily, she stared up at Roy.

Roy
Roy had held his watch during the night, occasionally dozing off for just a little while but never long enough.

"Morning," he murmured, mostly because he wasn't sure what else to say and it seemed like a good start.

Kerrigan
"Morning," Kerrigan replied, pulling back a little. "Sorry."

Roy
He shook his head, he would have moved if he minded and there was no point in letting it become awkward.

Kerrigan
"You're right," she muttered, pulling away entirely. "We should get you back home."

Roy
He watched her for a long moment before he finally sat up. "I'm not going," he said simply. "I'm not leaving you so you can fight a battle you'll regret for the rest of your life."

Kerrigan
"And what the hell would you do here, Roy?" Kerrigan asked, moving to the side of the bed. Still dressed; no need for a change of clothes, really.

She was still wearing one of the fairy's stupid tank tops and pants. Maybe she should get changed. Stupid, stupid.

Roy
"You should ask yourself what you are going to be doing," Roy said, leaving her question unanswered.

Kerrigan
"My job," she snapped, desperately. "You of all people should get that."

Roy
"You've been in my head," Roy replied. "Did you ever figure out how I got this eyepatch?"

Kerrigan
Kerrigan's eyes met his. And she knew.

The next moment, she was kicking over the record player in one controlled blast of fury. Telekinesis guiding it, the needle struck further than it normally would have, smashing into the mirror with pinpoint accuracy.

She held her foot up in the air for another instant, then lowered it. "Not," she said, voice shaking with frustration, "The same."

Roy
Roy flinched at the crashing noise and was off the bed in an instant.

"Isn't it? A soldier serves the people. When the orders you're given tell you to destroy them, isn't it our job to protect them against that too?" he asked. It had been more than a job. "Tell me honestly that you believe what he's doing is right. Tell me that deep down you don't doubt what he made you do at Antiga, what he's doing now."

Kerrigan
"Of course it's not right. That's not the point," Kerrigan muttered, pulling herself back together as she stalked over to what was left of the mirror. The needle stuck neatly in the hull -- the sheer force had driven it into the metal. "Arcturus is a man with a hammer, and when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail..."

With a blue spark of psionics, the needle pulled loose. "You're a lot like Mike, sometimes," she said, "Saving everyone from themselves..."

Roy
"I like him," Roy remarked dryly, watching her as he'd never seen her used her powers like that. "So tell me what the point is, then."

Kerrigan
She didn't do it often. But home and temper had driven her a little to demonstration-- and the effort was already starting to pain her artificially tied-up neurons. "There might still be some good in this," Kerrigan said.

It was a desperate hope, but it was still one.

She dropped the needle on the floor, then walked the few steps to the door.

Roy
"How many lives including your own are you willing to bet on that?" Roy called before she could reach the door.

Kerrigan
"I told you," she said. "I'm no one's martyr."

Kerrigan glanced back. "There's still a disturbance where we arrived," she said. "I'll put you on a dropship, put on the autopilot, maybe amp up an emitter, that should punch through."

He had to leave, or she couldn't shed any of this and get back to her job.

Roy
"What about Raynor?" he asked, ignoring her question. "He already fought with that Confederate General. Mike's already made himself a target simply by having those disks. Perhaps Mengsk can send him on a one way mission when he finds out too. Or maybe he'll just order you."

Kerrigan
That got a reaction. A real one, her hand pausing by the panel. "They--"

Kerrigan's hand brushed over the panel. "...They can take care of themselves."

Roy
He watched the line of her shoulders, reaching for something that would make her pause longer. "Is that what I should tell River when she asks why you didn't come back?"

Kerrigan
"That's not fair," she said, closing her eyes. "That's not damn fair, Roy..."

Roy
"Probably not," he agreed, not sounding one bit sorry. "But I'm not sure I'll forgive myself if I leave you here."

Kerrigan
Kerrigan leaned her forehead against the door. Thinking about River, and maybe you can live on this reality's world, will you come stay with us?

Asking her about polar caps.

She expelled a sigh. "...okay," she said. So softly part of her was-- hoping he hadn't heard it. If he hadn't, then... her choice was made. If he had--

Roy
He had heard, even if he wasn't sure he could believe that he had. He wasn't going to try his luck and ask her to repeat however and he closed the distance, lightly placing his hand on her back.

Kerrigan
She pulled a face against the door-- of what emotion, she wasn't really sure.

She knew he knew and he knew she knew he knew. Telepathy was so much fun, sometimes. Another exhale. "We'll have to steal a dropship."

Roy
Roy nodded and slowly lowered his hand. "Just tell me what to do," he said softly.

Kerrigan
"Follow me, and don't look anyone in the eye." She tapped the pad at last. The door slid open.

Roy
He could do that. He checked the room behind him to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything, but he never so much had taken off his trenchcoat.

"Lead the way," he murmured, following her out.
