It was a whole big, beautiful new semester, wasn't it?

The intel she was gathering here was already proving to be very interesting indeed; but today, Kerrigan was busy with other things. Drafting up class plans with her hands, her mind was high up and away, poking through her own troop movements.

She was certain the entire galaxy was wondering what the hell had happened to the Zerg, pulling away at the moment they could have claimed total victory. They didn't fully comprehend what was going on, which was fine with her... For now.

Of course, Emma knocked telepathically first, from midway down the hall. She could tell that Kerrigan was in her office, but it was only proper to make sure she wasn't interrupting anything before physically banging away on the door.

Ah, miss Frost, Kerrigan replied, idly. Any plans on making it here before the end of the day?

She rifled through her paperwork.

<< Only if it's not hideously inconvenient, >> Emma drawled, reaching the doorway and waiting for a moment before entering. << I could always go out and come in again. >>

You can test that theory on someone more annoying, Kerrigan communicated in turn, idly.

Then she looked up from her desk. "Come on in."

Of course Emma was going to test it on someone more annoying. Probably a few people, just to take into account the proper variables in such an experiment.

She'd probably do it for fun, anyway, even if Kerrigan hadn't just suggested she experiment on other people.

"You said to come by your office hours," she replied instead, coming in and looking at her teacher. "So here I am."

"I can see that," Kerrigan said, dryly, and nodded at the chair on the other end of her desk. "Sit down, Frost. You wanted to know what we were doing this term."

"I do," Emma admitted, taking a seat. "I generally like knowing what I'm getting in to, when a teacher informs me that I'm the TA." And she -- reluctantly -- doubted she could get past Kerrigan's shields to just find out what the class was, like she would with any other teacher.

"You know I like my classes as hands-on as I can make them," Kerrigan replied. A little flicker of amusement danced around just outside her shields, and her mouth widened a little bit. "But a class like this one's going to need some theory. So you can continue to fear papercuts. To start with..."

"I'm more interested in what the other students need to fear from me." And Kerrigan, by extension. "If I'm going to have my peers thinking nasty things at me because I just gave them an accounting workbook so they can learn what an army costs to run, I ought to be prepared."

"Armies cost different amounts of money depending on where you are and what you do," Kerrigan said, conversationally. She had a feeling 'mine x amount of minerals' wouldn't be much use to most of the students. "What I'm interested in is strategy. The basics of resource management, without the numbers. If any of my students decide to think nasty things about that, feel free to dub them guinea pigs."

Ah, to be Zerg and biologically incapable of morality.

"Guinea pigs for what?" Emma was definately intrigued.

Luckily -- or unluckily for most people that dealt with her -- Frosts were more-or-less incapable of understanding basic morality as well. It had been bred out of them for generations.

"Anything they might conceivably find unpleasant," she said, lightly. "Though no maiming. Maybe a prime spot in the more exciting half of my course."

She leaned back into her seat. Though, speaking of maiming - do you have any combat experience with your powers at all?

"Maiming is for the uncreative who fall back on physical violence," Emma replied, distaste coloring her tone.

<< Some. I can take control of another person's body, and I've been known to make people take a nap when I feel it is needed, >> she answered silently. << Hallucinations; bugs under the skin, spiders, that sort of thing. >>

<< Although I'm of the opinion that my best asset is being out of combat, acting as the instantaneous telepathic switchboard for multiple people. >> If Kerrigan asked, Emma would tell her where, how, and who she picked that trick up from, but it wasn't relevant yet.

Communication is our greatest gift, Kerrigan replied. If her mental voice was laden with some irony, then so be it. Still, there are much, much better ways to use your mind. If you don't mind the relative pun.

She sat forward. If you'd like to learn more. "Good. I'm sure you'll figure out some way to make their lives more interesting, miss Frost. In fact, I'm banking on it."

If Kerrigan hadn't been a teacher, she would have been on the receiving end of one of Emma's 'You Are Clearly A Moron' Looks of pure disdain. If she'd like to learn more. Not that Emma spent most of her free time pushing her range or poking about or anything, no, never.

<<I'm interested.>> she replied mildly. "And so long as it's considered acceptable for me to volunteer them for 'guiena pig' status based on what I hear."

Getting in trouble for using her powers on her classmates in a telepath's class would suck.

Emma's exceptionally mild tone was all Kerrigan needed to know she had the little mutant right where she wanted her. Her expression didn't change a bit. "It's acceptable," she said, lightly. "How else am I going to keep discipline in my class?" We both know how disgusting their heads get.

<< YOU don't have to live in the dorms. >>> Teenage. Boys. Everywhere. If it hadn't been for the week with the pollen giving her a kick, too, Emma quite possibly would have been scarred for life.

"You could try the old fashioned way," she mused. "Fear, detention, extra homework, and vague threats of punishing the whole class if anyone steps out of line, to make everyone loathe each other."

Private school had been so very educational.

I lived in barracks, Kerrigan replied, with little sympathy, and left Emma with just the slightest of impressions of just how freaking desperate soldiers out in the field for months could be.

"I'll keep that under consideration," she said, dryly, "But I think letting you keep house will be a nice start."

For fostering paranoia, anyway.
