She'd been staring impassively at her transmitter all day. It had been dead since Jimmy's last communique, like she'd been forgotten. Weeks and weeks and weeks, and all Kerrigan had gotten was-- what, again?

Being forgotten.

The rage hadn't gone away yet: with every visit, she put on a smile, lifted her arm like a human being, gave honest answers and blinked just often enough for anyone to take her for human.

She was starting to want to scream, but that would probably break a wall. And so Sarah Kerrigan sat, just sat, perched on the floor, her wings open and her eyes set on the transmitter.

"It better not," she muttered, spooning out some ice cream, "I think I prefer teaching."

Roy grinned at that. "Any annoying students?"

"Adama's stalking me again."

At least she could taste the ice cream; Kerrigan smiled a little despite herself.

"The kid likes you," Roy said, actually glad to hear that. "Maybe he's got a crush?"

"Adama, crush?" She snorted a laugh. "Yeah, not on his life. It's like he's imprinted."

Not that she wouldn't throttle anyone who tried to hurt the boy, but it was better not to admit this kind of thing.

"Every teenage boy has a crush," Roy pointed out. "And teachers are definitely a popular theme there."

"Trust me," she said, going for the next spoonful, "I think he's a little occupied elsewhere."

Roy could point out that really, a teenage boy was more than capable to keep an open mind even when occupied, but he figured he didn't have to say that out loud and he was already waiting for the pig comment to follow.

"I'm going to have to change it up if I'm starting to get predictable," Kerrigan snorted, "Thanks, Roy."

He laughed around the mouthful of ice cream and leaned back on the couch. "But you enjoy saying it, I love giving you the chance to."

She shot him a look across her own tub, full of dark humor and a gruff kind of amusement. "You're a regular enabler."

Roy smirked as he considered the title. "I like that, it has a certain ring to it."

"It's not quite 'Human Lighter'," she said, her eyes flicking down towards her ice cream, "But it'll do."

"Nothing is quite like 'Human Lighter'," Roy deadpanned. He grew more serious for a moment, wanting to ask how she was really doing. He let the thought linger in his head, giving her the choice to pick up on it or not.

"Maybe I should take you in for a class some day," she said, gazing steadily at the tub. Not quite burning a hole into it. "At least one of the kids this round has a fancy-ass piece of strange like your alchemy."

Roy raised an eyebrow. "I'm more than willing to," he replied, letting her drop the question he didn't ask. "What kind of strange?"

"Her arm. It's got some kind of blade inside-- it's hard to describe." She experimented with a larger scoop of ice cream.

No brain freeze. That was a plus in anyone's book. "I might drop you a line one of these days; I don't know yet. I'm hitting the basics before I branch out."

"I'm not going anywhere," he assured her, tilting his head. "It's not an automail arm?" he asked, imaging Edward's arm for a moment.

"No, different," she said, gesturing at her own arm for a moment. "It looks like a normal arm until she switches it on. And she doesn't actually know what it is."

Huh. "No, alchemy doesn't quite work that way and I'm afraid I don't know enough of medicinal alchemy to try to make sense of it. Do you know where she's from?"

She slipped the next bite of ice cream into her mouth. "Any of a great number of worlds I haven't heard of, I'm afraid. Hundreds of planets in my own sector, and I haven't heard of most of these places."

"So are you implying it's silly to ask where someone is from as the name doesn't say much of anything?" Roy asked, but it was sort of.

"One," she said, rolling her eyes, "I generally don't have to ask. Two-- I barely even understand where you're from, and I've known you for a year now."

"I meant the general you," Roy waved off the remark with his spoon before scooping up some more ice cream. "The time I got stuck in when those Weeping Angels things attacked was actually more like my world. Just without the alchemy."

"Harriet took me down to hers," Kerrigan replied. It had been... interesting. "It was a little like being caught between my world and this one."
