Her fridge had been stocked up well enough, but Kerrigan had still found herself chowing back noodles more often than not over the past few days. Cooking just wasn't her strong suit, and she lacked the inclination to learn.

Christmas Eve had passed by unnoticed.

She was in the living room, running system checks on her armor and fiddling with the wires.

"I was being sarcastic," she replied. And then took the bag anyway. "'Celebrate' is a big word, but yeah, we do Christmas."

"I was willfully ignoring that you were," he said with a grin.

"I know." Hey, she really did. She shot him a look before marching off into the living room. "Is this your first go at the holiday, Sheriff?"

"Mmmmm," he followed her into the living room. "We don't have this particular religion in my world."

"So I gather," she said, flopping backwards onto the couch. "Any religions at all?"

"A few," he nodded, sitting down beside her on the couch. "It's hard to believe in god when you have alchemy."

"You could say that makes gods out of people, though," she observed, taking the lid off the ice cream. "Back home, the Protoss can do things with psionics that'll make your head spin." Off your torso, usually.

"Ishbalans find alchemy a sin because it changes the world the way their god intended it to be," he replied, careful not to let his mind think deeper on the subject.

"Usually happens with religions and counter-movements," she said, and realised that spoons might be useful. She got up and went into the kitchen, returning with two. "Of course, rumors say the Protoss treat psionics like it's a religion."

"Like some people here insist alchemy is magic," he accepted the spoon with a thankful smile. "I suppose it's a matter of how much understanding you have of something."

The couch shifted momentarily under Kerrigan's returning weight. It was old. "I think I'll take science."

"So you're not in the mood to be treated like a priest?" he teased.

"I'd rather be treated as a human being," she said, dryly, and got the first spoonful of icecream out.

Really, human being was a good step up the ladder.

He knew the meaning behind those words all too well and hummed softly in recognition, but it didn't feel like the night to get caught up in those thoughts.

"S'why I brought you ice cream," he teased, scooping out a bite once she had hers.

"Because ice cream is what makes a human," Kerrigan snorted. Okay, the ice cream was good, and it may have showed.

She was not hurrying for the second scoop. Really.

"Now you're getting it," he teased, mirroring the words she'd spoken to him on another holiday.

"Don't even start," she replied, waving a threatening spoon in his general direction.

Roy tapped his spoon against his chin thoughtfully, a playful look in his eyes. "Or what? You'll hit me with your spoon?"

"Don't start." She reached over to whap the spoon lightly at the top of his head. "I carry through on my threats."

"Ow," he exaggerated, looking anything but discouraged as he tried to tap her shoulder with his spoon. "Too late."

Reading the effort before he'd even made it, Kerrigan caught the spoon with her own. "You're five," she told him, smirking.

"Twenty nine actually." No, he wasn't.

He frowned at the spoon taking. "I could eat with my fingers, you know."

"And make the poor ice cream suffer?"

"Better give me my spoon back," he said sweetly.

She offered him the stem of the spoon. "Don't even try it."
